Meet the Head of Nurseries
Sophie Spurrier - Head of Nurseries
I am so proud to be Head of U1R Nurseries, applying my extensive knowledge and skills in the creation of these wonderful spaces.
I have worked in education for the past 10 years, as a qualified teacher and Early Years lead at Ramsgate Arts Primary School and previously gained a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education, as well as achieving a NPQML in leadership. Last year, I had been appointed by the DFE (Department For Education) as an Early Years Covid recovery expert, working with schools and nurseries across Kent to improve standards. As well as this, I am a dance teacher and principle at Regency Performing Arts Academy.
I am passionate about creating a safe, secure and natural learning environment that promotes child led learning through a curiosity approach. Materials are recycled and open ended allowing the child to lead the learning and choose what they want it to be. This is implemented within our settings and the arts is at the core of all of our approaches. This enables the children to become life long, confident, independent and articulate learners.
I am keen to provide the best education and first five years to a child’s life. I am committed to having the highest standards and well trained and supported staff who build a strong key person approach with their children. All staff know their children in depth including their likes, next steps and we have tailored approaches to ensure children meet their milestones through the EYFS. We are very proud of our settings and aim to be a stand out, one of a kind nursery.
